CARTA ABIERTA AL JURADO DE NUEVA YORK

A los doce ciudadanos que han sido llamados a juzgar asuntos que no les pertenecen:

Se han sentado en sus lugares creyendo que presiden un juicio penal ordinario. Con todo el respeto que merece el cargo que ocupan, permítanme exponer el asunto con claridad: se han sentado en el escenario de un teatro orquestado por la administración Trump para vestir un acto de despojo con los ropajes de la legalidad.

El caso ante ustedes no es un procedimiento judicial. 

Es el manual de instrucciones 

de una operación geopolítica.

Se les dice que Nicolás Maduro Moros es culpable. Muy bien. Entonces, permítanme decirles esto desde las calles de Venezuela, desde una tierra que no ha doblado la rodilla: si él es culpable, entonces nosotros somos sus cómplices.

• Somos sus cómplices porque nos negamos a entregar las llaves de PDVSA a las corporaciones transnacionales que ya están trazando sus planes de partición.
• Somos sus cómplices porque mantuvimos en alto la bandera de Bolívar mientras las sanciones buscaban asfixiarnos para convertirnos en territorio en venta.
• Somos sus cómplices porque este pueblo —que ha soportado pobreza inducida, bloqueo y amenazas— ha dicho en cada esquina, en cada barrio, en cada elección, que no será el patio trasero de nadie.

Que se diga la verdad: mientras ustedes deliberan sobre testimonios fabricados y pruebas convenientes, sus corporaciones energéticas ya están perforando nuestro subsuelo bajo el amparo de lo que llaman "Operación Resolución Absoluta". Pero Venezuela no es suficiente para ellos. El mismo guion se está ensayando dentro de Oriente Medio.

¿No ven el patrón?

Abrazo de la trasnacional

Allí también fabrican pretextos. Allí también dibujan mapas de "interés nacional" sobre los cuerpos de naciones que se niegan a ceder. Allí también visten con túnicas judiciales lo que es, en su esencia, el derecho de tanteo imperial sobre los recursos del mundo. Mientras ustedes fijan su mirada en Caracas, la misma mano que redactó esta acusación está orquestando la redistribución del petróleo en Gaza, en el Golfo, en cada región que debe ser "pacificada" para que los mercados no enfrenten obstáculos.

Esto no se trata de justicia. Se trata de asegurar que el precio de la gasolina en Texas no dependa de la voluntad de pueblos que aún se atreven a decir "no".

Ustedes no tienen jurisdicción sobre nuestra dignidad. Un tribunal puede emitir una sentencia, pero no puede emitir soberanía.

Al condenar a Maduro, estarán condenando simbólicamente la existencia misma de Venezuela como nación independiente. Y aunque lo hagan con toda la solemnidad de sus togas, sepan esto: el veredicto del pueblo venezolano ya ha sido pronunciado —en las calles, en las urnas y en el acto diario de resistencia.

No reconocemos a los jueces de un imperio que nos hace la guerra.

Si dictan una condena, también estarán condenando al pueblo que lo sostuvo. Y si creen que esto nos pondrá de rodillas, no han entendido nada de esta historia. Porque Venezuela, damas y caballeros del jurado, no está en el banquillo de los acusados. Venezuela está de pie.

​AN OPEN LETTER TO THE NEW YORK JURY

​To the twelve citizens summoned to adjudicate matters beyond your jurisdiction:

​You have taken your seats believing you are presiding over an ordinary criminal trial. With all due respect for the positions you hold, allow me to state the matter clearly: you are seated upon a stage orchestrated by the Trump administration to cloak an act of dispossession in the vestiges of legality.

The Judicial 'Trophy' and Ignored Sovereignty

​The case before you is not a judicial proceeding.

​It is the instruction manual

for a geopolitical operation.

​You are told that Nicolás Maduro Moros is guilty. Very well. Then allow me to say this from the streets of Venezuela, from a land that has not bowed its knee: should he be found guilty, we stand as his accomplices.

​We are his accomplices because we refuse to surrender the keys of PDVSA to the transnational corporations already drafting their plans for partition.

​We are his accomplices because we held high the banner of Bolívar while sanctions sought to asphyxiate us, attempting to turn our territory into a commodity for sale.

​We are his accomplices because this people—having endured induced poverty, blockades, and threats—has declared in every corner, in every neighborhood, and in every election, that it shall be no one’s "backyard."

​

Let the truth be told: while you deliberate over fabricated testimonies and convenient evidence, your energy corporations are already drilling into our subsoil under the guise of what they call "Operation Absolute Resolution." Yet Venezuela is not enough for them. The same script is being rehearsed within the Middle East.

​Do you not see the pattern?

The Embrace of the Transnational

​There, too, they manufacture pretexts. There, too, they draw maps of "national interest" over the bodies of nations that refuse to yield. There, too, they dress in judicial robes what is, in essence, an imperial right of first refusal over the world's resources. While you fix your gaze on Caracas, the same hand that drafted this indictment is orchestrating the redistribution of oil in Gaza, in the Gulf, in every region that must be "pacified" so that markets face no obstacles.

​This is not about justice. This is about ensuring that the price of gasoline in Texas does not depend on the will of peoples who still dare to say "no."

​You have no jurisdiction over our dignity. A court may issue a sentence, but it cannot issue sovereignty.

​By condemning Maduro, you will be symbolically condemning the very existence of Venezuela as an independent nation. And thoug

h you may do so with all the solemnity of your robes, know this: the verdict of the Venezuelan people has already been pronounced—in the streets, at the ballot boxes, and in the daily act of resistance.

​We do not recognize the judges of an empire that wages war against us.

​If you hand down a conviction, you are also convicting the people who sustained him. And if you believe this will bring us to our knees, you have understood nothing of this history. Because Venezuela, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, is not in the dock. Venezuela stands defiant.
